Product Details

Jule Amps recently teamed up with Hypex Electronics in The Netherlands to add amplification to Monique. This is no small undertaking and this is no simple amplifier. This thing is a beast. It is a beast as to power delivery and a beast as to tone. It is the perfect amplifier to take advantage of the “touch” of Monique and the beauty and richness of tone. It is a very musical, very fun combination for bass players.

The first two versions of Monique that can be ordered with the 700 watt amplifier installed are the Rack Mount 700 and the Tardis 700. Two more models of this combination of Monique and the Hypex Amplifier will be available as soon as we can get them out of development and hand build them. The Monique 700 models to come will be a Dove Cage inspired Combo 700 (very pretty) and a stand-alone version of the amplifier designed to sit beautifully beneath existing Dove Cage Moniques.

The power rating of this amplifier has to be taken seriously. It delivers a true 700 watts RMS. Other amplifier manufacturers publish power ratings that are peak values. Not this one. This combination of Monique and the Hypex Amplifier will deliver 700 watts RMS continuously. Make sure your speakers can handle a “real” 700 watts.

The two Combo/Speakons (accept both 1/4″ and Speakon cables) on the back of the Monique 700 are in parallel. The optimum impedance to deliver 700 watts is 4 ohms. This means that a couple of 8 ohm cabinets can be connected up to deliver 700 watts. It also means you are ready if you have a single 4 ohm cabinet that can handle 700 watts.

You get to hear exactly what you and your bass produce without the “mush” of excessive latency or holes in the frequency response of the amplifier. This is because the 700 watt Hypex amplifier delivers clean musical power across the audio spectrum better than any Class D amplifier we have ever heard. It has specifications good enough to make it a pristine Mastering Monitor. It is extremely fast with as close to zero latency as anything we have ever heard. It delivers amazing amplification for bass.

No feature of Monique has been left out to make this 700 watt amplifier. That is why you see a separate power switch for both Monique and the 700 watt amplifier. Especially in the studio or where we are simply sending balanced output to FOH, you will not need the amplifier. The amplifier is there when you need it.

In addition to the two speaker outputs, Monique has Line Level output (1/4″ Single Ended TRS) and a separate XLR balanced DI output that is driven by a beautiful Cinemag transformer. Both the Line Level and the Balanced Output have their own separate level controls. The Line Level control, that controls the amplifier volume, is also a push-pull switch. You should never have to pull the Line Level control out for more level when using the amplifier. Left in, the Line Level control gives you the original Monique (0db .775volt) output and that is what the amplifier is designed to accept. When you pull the Line Level control out you get a 4db increase in both the Line Level and the Balanced XLR outputs. This increased level is to match up with external amplifiers that require up to +4db input.

Monique 700 for the Rack Mount has two internal silent fans that are switch-able on the back. As long as the back panel is left open for ventilation, you should be able to run full blast in any environment. A “Clipping Detection” LED has been added (between the Line Level and Balanced Level knobs) for those times when you find yourself pushing the amplifier too hard. It will light up to tell you you have to back off on your input level.

All the tone and all the playing characteristics of the best all-tube Bass pre-amplifier ever made, but now in an amplifier. That is the Monique 700.
