EMG was the first pickup manufacturer to use an internal preamp in its pickups. Built directly into eack pickup, the preamp assures quality of performance, reduction of noise, simplicity of installation and greater output than that found in conventional pickups. The internal preamp used in every EMG is a propreitary design providing extremely low noise that is typically greater than -85dBV. Each EMG pickup requires a maximum current of 80 microamps for a simple 9 Volt battery. Even if you play up to eight hours a day, this small current drain means that with two EMG pickups your battery will last up to a year.
